# Quickstart: Set Up with Your Agent

> Point your coding agent at instructions to have it set up `metal-agent`, fund its key on testnet and make its first payment on Metal

On Metal, agents pay for HTTP requests in `*USDZ` over
[x402](https://docs.metalntwx.com/agents/x402-on-metal.md). `metal-agent` is the CLI and MCP server that
signs the agent's payments.

## Point your agent at the skill

Copy this into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any agent that runs commands:

```text theme={null}
Follow https://docs.metalntwx.com/agents/skill.md to set up metal-agent on the Metal testnet and make a payment.
```

The agent follows the [skill](https://docs.metalntwx.com/agents/skill). It shows you each step's
output and makes one test payment, to Metal's demo seller.

## What you end up with

* A `metal-agent` entry in your agent's MCP configuration with three
  tools: `pay`, `fund` and `status`.
* A funded key for the agent on testnet. Its key file is at
  `~/.metal-agent/key.json`; treat it as the secret.
* One settled payment to Metal's demo seller, with its page on the block
  explorer.
